Belgium

Though Belgium is a relatively small country, there is a great deal to see and experience.  Belgium has its similarities to the Netherlands but are two worlds apart, if you ask the Dutch and the Flemish.  I wanted to visit a bit of each region of Belgium so I decided to hit the cities of Antwerp, Bruges, Gent and Brussels.  Each city has its unique charm with old churches and canals and interesting bridges dating back a few centuries.  Modern Brussels has the Atomium structure which is a perfect example of modernism.  The city of Liege has one of the most amazing train stations I’ve seen in Europe.  It was completed in 2009 and I went right after its inauguration.  I was really impressed with Belgium’s modern architecture.

After a few days in each city, nature was calling so I decided to end my trip by visiting the Ardennes and explore the countryside.  The Ardennes is definitely a nature enthusiast’s dream.  There are many mountains and cliffs with outstanding views of the landscape.  If you love hiking and getting in touch with nature, then you need to visit this part of Belgium.
