Sorry for the title of this post. It’s the best that I could come up with but if you think of a better one, let me know and I’ll change it. So the other day I decided to have some fun with Photoshop. I transformed a few of my photographs I took from around the world and made them look like miniature models. How did you do that, you ask? Well this cool effect is what’s called the tilt-shift effect where you alter the focus on a photograph and create a shallow depth of field on life-size locations, thus simulating a miniature scene. The reason this works is because our eye is trained to see small objects with the background and foreground blurred when seen up close. A good example of this is Macro photography. So by creating this effect on Photoshop, you give the illusion of making the scene seem much smaller than it actually is. This optical illusion is not hard to do and in fact can be quite fun. Last picture shows a before and after so you get the idea. Enjoy!

Love the photos and adore the effects! So many of these places bring back fond little memories of my travels around the world. Thanks for the charming treatment!
By “world”, I meant “little blue marble”.

Wow! I love them. I can’t believe how the world looks so beautiful. Thanks Miguel for the link, I won’t ask my money back.
Super cool pictures, like the effect. Funny how much different the effect is when you look at the before and after picture of Portofino!
My favorite is the one from Cuenca, Ecuador – very nice!!
