Anita is my latest model from Macedonia. I think I’m going to start my Macedonia collection here! For this shoot, we scoped out a wooded area that worked well with the afternoon lighting. After crossing a bridge and stepping through mud we finally found our spot. Anita wandered through the grass fields and seemed to enjoy the tranquility of the scenery, allowing some time to think and reflect.

Biljana Boshkosha

My latest photoshoot involved a beautiful girl from Macedonia now living here in the Netherlands. Biljana was great in front of the camera and her eyes really spoke for themselves. The soft lighting that day helped to really bring out her eyes in some shots. I usually prefer shots where the subject is looking away from the camera, but with Biljana, it was quite the opposite. Her intense look into the camera was a winner in my book. Overall a fun shoot with great results.

Sofie + Sebas Engagement

When I met with Sebas and Sofie for the first time, I knew instantly that I wanted to shoot their wedding. They both are very happy and positive people and I wanted to capture their fun personalities during their engagement session. We did this shoot in the first week of spring at a harbor in IJsselstein near the city of Utrecht. This was a great location for a nice walk along the river. They even brought their cute pug for the shoot…well after all, he is part of the family.

I introduce to all of you…Raf! Just entered a new world and is loving every moment of it! His big blue eyes say it all. He is one cute baby and his parents, Jurgen and Francis, are excited for their first new arrival. This was my first newborn shoot and Raf made sure that he was not going to make it easy for me. I was up for the challenge and eventually we worked well together! We’re friends now.

Weekend in Paris

I finally made it back to Paris since my last visit many years ago. It wasn’t long before I realized that this city is every bit as impressive and romantic as it’s made out to be. I spent only a weekend but managed to see everything on my list.

The views from the top of the tower of Notre Dame Cathedral were spectacular, surpassing the views from the Eiffel Tower in my opinion. The stormy weather on the first day added to the dramatic effect of the gargoyles overlooking the city. The dark clouds hovering above the Sacre Coeur casted a shadow that made it stand out in front of the bright sky as seen from the Notre Dame. As the weather cleared up, I decided to take a stroll through the old streets of Paris, particularly the area of Montmartre. This area is filled with artists from painters to musicians and has some of the best restaurants and crêperies to satisfy all taste buds. So you can easily spend a day just in Montmartre. One of the highlights of Paris was actually just outside the city boundaries. Past the Arc de Triomphe on the opposite side of the Champs Élysées lies the modern financial district, characterized by its modern arch, the Arc de la Défense. Though not visited by most tourists, this section of Paris deserves a visit for its outstanding contemporary architecture. This is best experienced at dusk when all the lights come on and the buildings are even more enhanced. Lastly, after visiting all of Paris above ground, it was time to head underground to visit the famous catacombs that run miles under the city. These tunnels hold the neatly-stacked skeletal remains of an estimated 6 million Parisians. This was done to relieve the overflowing of cemeteries back in the 18th century. So there are actually more Parisians underground than there are above! But after a few hours in darkness surrounded by skulls, it was time to take in the fresh air again and enjoy the city of lights once again.

Living here in the Netherlands has introduced me to a new culture, new language, and well, new temperatures. Coming form the sunny and warm climate of Miami, I dreaded the idea of winter and snow. The month of February officially welcomed me to winter in the Netherlands and I have to say that I actually don’t mind it at all. When the first blanket of snow fell, I grabbed my camera and went out in my neighborhood to capture the scenery. What I discovered was that everything looks much prettier and more peaceful in the snow. So I concluded that it should snow more often, though most locals would disagree.

The castle you see is called Castle Heeswijk (Kasteel Heeswijk), built in the 11th century AD.

I spent a weekend in London the other day and was fascinated by the bustling ambiance this city possesses. From Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey to the Tower Bridge, the city is alive with people, entertainment, red buses, and old fashion taxis. Look out of for the signs on the road telling you which way to look before crossing the streets, having a double-decker bus miss you by inches is not fun. The food is outstanding and there was every type of cuisine imaginable, so going hungry is not an option. Of course I had my fish and chips before downing it with a good ol’ English beer. Finish off the day with a walk along the River Thames at dusk as the lights start illuminating the Tower Bridge, London Eye and the Big Ben. You won’t regret it. London definitely warrants a longer stay and I’m already planning on returning and visiting the rest of what England has to offer.

Kim and Josh

Josh and Kim are two fun people to hang with and so when I found out they wanted a maternity shoot, I immediately jumped on it. This was my first maternity shoot so it was quite the challenge, but everything went smoothly and we had a blast doing it.

Combine Josh’s cool British accent (yes he’s from England) and Kim’s spunky personality (yes she’s spunky), and you got one cool baby. Wish you both the best!

Xiomara

Xiomara is one cute little girl and these photos are proof. She was so graceful during her photoshoot with her smile just winning you over. The beach in Miami was a great location to shoot because she was able to enjoy herself on the sand and let the water touch her feet. She was nervous at first but eventually warmed up to the camera. After an hour of shooting, she decided that it was her time to have fun at the playground. So we went along with it! Her mom was a great help. Thanks Vanessa!

Hilde Heesakkers

Another great photoshoot this week! Hilde looks amazing and compared to her photoshoot a few years back, this is definitely an upgrade. We found an old abandoned train track dating back half a century so we thought it would be a great prop…and we were right! The lighting was perfect as well as the colors of the leaves and the surroundings. I never realized how pretty autumn shoots can be! Coming from Miami, I now appreciate the change of seasons!
